GreenPower is a government-led scheme. It creates additional demand for large-scale renewable energy certificates and that should in turn drive up the level of investment in renewable energy generation.
During the signup journey, you can choose 10%, 50% or 100% of your energy to be tied to GreenPower. There's an additional cost for this which is based on the cost of the environmental certificates we'll buy. 100% GreenPower is currently 4.4c/kWh inc. GST and is a purely external cost (i.e. with no Energy Locals margin added).

We know that's an extra cost for most people at a time when energy prices need to be lower, so we purchase carbon offset certificates for 100% of the energy that our customers and our own business use. This means that all carbon emissions from your electricity use will be offset. This isn’t the same as using 100% renewable energy but our carbon offset policy means all customers can be doing something positive without paying a premium.
