Victoria Time Of Use Changes - Effective 1 August 2021

This year there's been a major change to Time of Use tariffs by the networks. Instead of having a jumble of time-of-use periods available, they want to make things a bit simpler.

Effective 1 August 2021, most of our time of use retail tariffs will be streamlined into two time of use periods; Peak and Off Peak across all the networks without shoulder rates.

The new time of use periods are:

For Residential: Peak = 3pm - 9pm all days, Off-peak = all other times.

For Business: Peak = 9am-9pm Monday to Friday, Off-peak = all other times.

What does this mean for you?

When joining in July, you will see some price changes from 1 August 2021.

Your pricing will be dependent on your underlying network tariff.  You may move to the above new pricing and structure from 1 August 2021 if your network tariff has been:

• Three-rate time-of-use (Peak, Off-Peak and Shoulder)
• Two-rate (Peak and Off-Peak).

If your current network tariff is either Anytime/Flat rate or a Demand tariff your pricing will change 1 August 2021 but you will stay on the same tariff structure.

Adding to this complexity, Networks are changing tariffs throughout July. Therefore when you transfer across to Energy Locals, your network tariff may have already changed. If you are currently on a Three-rate time-of-use (Peak, Off Peak and Shoulder), you may move to a two-rate; Peak and Off-Peak structure a few weeks earlier.

You may be eligible to switch to a different tariff. Please contact our friendly Aussie team if you’d like to change, however this will need to be done after you become a customer of Energy Locals.
